What is Noun?
A noun is a naming word for a person, place, thing or idea.
There are different types of nouns.
1. Common Noun: General name.
E.g. Table, Chair, a boy
2. Proper Noun: Specific name.
E.g. Ashish, Samsung, Pune
3. Concrete Noun: A thing which you can experience with five senses.
E.g. chocolate, book, pen
4. Abstract Noun: A thing which you cannot experience with five senses.
E.g. emotions, freedom, religion
5. Countable Noun: A thing which we can count.
E.g. Apple, chair, player
6. Uncountable Noun: A thing that we cannot count.
E.g. Water, rice, sugar
7. Compound Noun: A thing made from more than one noun.
E.g. Nailpolish, toothbrush, tablecloth
8. Collective Noun: A group of things or people.
E.g. A team, a herd of cattle, a school of fish
9. Material Noun: A material noun is the name of a substance or material from which we make things.
E.g. Gold, Silver, Plastic
10. Singular Noun: A single person, thing or idea.
E.g. boy, book, chair
11. Plural Noun: More than one person, thing or idea.
E.g. boys, books, chairs
12. Possessive Noun: These talk about ownership.
E.g. Teacher’s room, Mom’s gift, Father’s princess
